Number of Staff & Their Qualifications
- We have fifteen members of staff.
- Four have N.V.Q level 2 in care.
- One is working towards a N.V.Q level 2 in care.
- Nine members of staff have a First aid certificate.
- Three have Health & Safety certificate
- All members of staff have Basic food hygiene Certificates
- All members of staff have attended a manual handling course
- All members of staff have completed a safe handling of medication course
- All members of staff have completed a course in infection control
Organizational Structure of the Care Home.
- Mrs Davitt is in charge of the day to day running of the home, and can be contacted at home or by mobile phone when she is not there.
- Dr Condon is always available to be contacted when Mrs Davitt is away on holiday.
- There is always a senior care on duty when Mrs Davitt is not there.
Age Range and Sex of Service users.
- Anyone over the age of sixty-five years, Male or Female, not needing nursing care & not falling within any other category
Range of Needs We Will Meet.
- We are happy to accommodate anyone requiring social care.
- If they are incontinent’
- If they need two people to transfer.
- If they are deaf or blind
- We are able to provide special diets for people e.g. Diabetics.
Provision of Nursing Care.
- We are happy to provide nursing care if any of our service users become ill or are dying. We usually do this with advice from our District Nurses or any member of the primary health care team.
Criteria used for Admission.
- The prospective Service User will whenever possible be interviewed in his or her own home or in hospital if they are an inpatient to be sure they are able to meet the Rest Homes Criteria for admission.
- They are able to come in for a trial period to see if they are happy with the home.
- In case of an emergency admission the Service Users relatives would be interviewed as to the suitability of the Service User to be admitted to prevent inappropriate admissions being made. Information will also be requested from any health care professional caring for the would be service user.
Arrangements for Service Users to Engage in Social Activities Hobbies & Leisure Activities.
- We have a group of singers who come three times a year to give a concert for our Service Users
- At Christmas the Service Users friends and family are invited to come to our family Christmas dinner.
- We have a Carol service.
- One of our Service Users goes out to different clubs in the Venture Bus
- Service users are able to go out with their friends or relatives.
- Staff take Service Users out.
- We have a music workshop once every six weeks.
- We endeavor to aid our Service Users to maintain links with the community.
- Service Users are supported by staff if they wish to have a short holiday away from the care home
Arrangements Made for Consultation with the Service Users About the Operation of the Care Home.
- Mrs. Davitt talks to each Service User every day that she is at the rest home & any ideas the Service users may have about the running of the home are discussed with them at that time.
Fire Precautions & Associated & Emergency Procedures in the Home
- Fire training is given to the staff every three months & this is signed for.
- A qualified person checks our Fire alarm System every six months & this is signed for.
- The Fire alarm exits & Emergency lights are tested weekly as is the Fire Brigades recommendation.
Arrangements for Service Users to Attend Religious Services.
- Service Users can go to a church of their choice on the local venture bus or they can go with a friend or relation.
- Local clergy will call at the rest home to give communion if requested.
Arrangements Made for Contact with Service Users by their Relatives Friends & Representatives.
- We operate an open door policy at April Cottage; Service users can have visitors at anytime. We also have a mobile phone so that Service users can be contacted by telephone. We are planning to provide the Service Users with access to a computer with a web cam & email address so that they can be in contact with family via the web.
The Arrangements Made for Dealing with Complaints.
- We have a written complaints procedure that is displayed in the hall. This procedure is also sent out to prospective Service Users with our Brouchure.
Arrangement made for Dealing with Reviews of the Service Users Care plan.
- The service users care plans are reviewed after one week then every month. They will also be reassessed if there is any significant change in the Service Users Condition. These care plans are originally devised with the assistants of Service Users & their families or friends & they will be asked to sign them to say they agree with the level of care needed.

- Service users have the hairdresser & chiropodist on a regularly basis they are Qualified Professionals. They have a C.R.B enhanced check
Arrangements Made to Maintain the Privacy & Dignity of Service Users.
- All of our rooms are single so service user’s privacy is maintained.
- Staff are trained to treat all of our service users with respect.
