Our Services
April cottage is a residential care home registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection for the care of twenty people over the age of sixty-five. Not requiring nursing care & not falling into any other category.
About Our Home
- We have eighteen single rooms on the ground floor and two single rooms upstairs. Service Users using the upstairs rooms must be able to climb stairs. The building is easily accessed by ramps .
- We have a lounge / dinning room which can be used by the Service User as they wish, there is also a smaller lounge that can be used by the Service User to entertain their guests.
- The building is surrounded by gardens that are for the use of our Service Users.
About Our Services
- Service Users have individual care plans, which are discussed with them to see that they are getting the care they require.
- Meals can always be served in Service User’s room.
- Special diets can be catered for e.g. Vegetarian Diabetic.
- We are also happy to provide food according to Service User’s cultural needs.
- There are three bathrooms all have assisted bathing facilities
- We can also provide day care and a bathing service.
About Visiting Services
- We have visiting Hairdressers, Chiropodists, and newspapers are delivered daily.
- A mobile dress shop visits twice a year to enable Service Users to purchase any clothing the may require.
- Selseys local singing group visits us to perform a concert for the Service Users three times a year.
- We also have a family Christmas Dinner and a carol concert in December.
- A music workshop every six weeks.
- Local clergy will visit Service Users on request.
About our Staff
- A Registered General Nurse (she is also a trained District Nurse) with a qualification in terminal care manages April Cottage.
- Some of our staff have an N.V.Q level two in care and others are working towards it.
- Our two cooks cook all the food produce at April Cottage on the premises
- The manager is always available to discuss any problems that Service User or their families may have.
